Purple Flag Area

Purple Flag is an accreditation awarded to towns and city centres that offer a vibrant, diverse, safe and enjoyable evening and night-time experience. Similar to the Blue Flag for beaches, it recognises places that provide a good mix of dining, entertainment, culture, safety and accessibility between 5pm and 5am.

Carrick-on-Shannon is proud to hold Purple Flag status, recognising the town’s lively evening economy and the work of local businesses, community groups, An Garda Síochána and Leitrim County Council in helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable town centre for residents and visitors alike.
