Large Turnout at Chamber First Meeting of 2019
Posted on : March 15, 2019
A Sincere thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Carrick on Shannon Chamber of Commerce meeting. It was the first meeting of 2019 and we had a huge attendance of over 115 business owner and managers. It was great to see such a large and diverse crowd. It was also great to see a large number of business owners that are not based inside the town boundary but do a lot of their business in it. The meeting was the first opportunity the new officers of the chamber had to give their vision and ideas for the year ahead. It has been agreed that a number of subcommittees will be set up to deal with different areas of interest. It is within these subcommittees the real work will be done and each sub-committee will report back at the monthly Chamber meetings. Each Sub Committee has been appointed a Chairperson and each of these spoke on the night.
They are as follows:
Tourism: Kenny Murtagh
Retail: Brendan Kieran
Employment Creation: Pat King
Special Projects: Brendan Lowe
Communications: Joe Brady
Tidy Towns: Deasun Lyons
Social/Entertainment: Thomas Taylor
We are looking for business owners to populate these sub-committees based upon their own talents and interests.
On the night we also tentatively introduced the marketing idea for the Carrick on Shannon Area called “Carrick on Shannon, The place to be” which we will fill you in on more as the idea is developed further. The overall theme of the night was the desire to see all businesses in the area to become members and get involved.
